Antiques and Collectibles in Taos

Spanish Colonial furniture, antique Navajo textiles, frontier collectibles, vintage turquoise, and serious dealers who know exactly what they have.

What's Available

The antiques market in Taos is shaped by the region's history: Spanish Colonial pieces from the 18th and 19th centuries, antique Navajo rugs and blankets from the Classic and Transitional periods, vintage Native American jewelry, santos and retablos from the Hispano Catholic tradition, and frontier-era collectibles from the Santa Fe Trail era. Listed alphabetically, not ranked.

Quality serious dealers are here but they know their inventory and price accordingly. Bargains exist but require knowledge. If you are buying antique Navajo textiles or vintage turquoise at significant prices, know what you are looking at or bring someone who does.

Where to Look

Ranchos de Taos, four miles south, holds two of the strongest dealers: Chimayo Trading del Norte for antique Navajo textiles and Spanish Colonial pieces, and Ranchos Antique Furnishings for museum-quality furniture, both a short drive from the San Francisco de Asis Mission Church.

The Plaza and its side streets hold Two Graces, a browsing-friendly stop for vintage curios and rare books. Kit Carson Road has Taos Black Dog Antiques for appraisal and estate sale work, and Ranchitos Road has Tres Estrellas Taos for serious vintage Native American textiles and early Spanish furniture. Arroyo Seco Mercantile is worth the short drive north to Arroyo Seco village.
