As with any provider, confirm directly whether they are accepting new patients and which insurance plans they take before assuming availability, since this changes faster than almost anything else on this page. Family Practice Associates of Taos runs a walk-in clinic, no appointment needed, Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm. Holy Cross Primary Care relocated to its current Plaza de Colores suite as of May 11, 2026; call ahead if you are unsure which suite to visit. As of this writing, Holy Cross Primary Care is not accepting new patients, per its own website.

Dental care is genuinely well-served here for a town this size, with more than twenty general dentists listed across major directories.

Northern New Mexico Dental Center runs a dedicated pediatric dentistry practice for children of all ages, with a focus on building comfort for first-time young patients, alongside general and family dentistry. Not every practice accepts Medicare or Medicaid; Taos Dental Group, for example, does not. Confirm coverage directly before booking if that applies to you.

Taos does have a dedicated pediatric practice. Taos Clinic For Children & Youth is a standalone pediatric clinic, not a family practice that happens to see kids, and carries strong patient reviews.

Beyond this dedicated clinic, pediatric care is also handled through family medicine practices that see patients of all ages, including children, such as those listed under Primary Care above and through Holy Cross Medical Center's clinic network. Call ahead to confirm current new-patient openings and insurance coverage before assuming availability.

For surgical eye care, serious conditions like retinal detachment, or specialized ophthalmology, the established pattern is a fast referral out, most often to Santa Fe or Albuquerque. Eye Associates of New Mexico's Santa Fe location, listed above, is roughly 70 miles south and offers a fuller range of ophthalmology and surgical services than what's based in Taos. One long-time local patient's account describes being seen by their local optometrist within hours of a retinal detachment and receiving surgery in Albuquerque the following evening, a genuinely good outcome that also confirms surgical-level eye care is not based in Taos. Budget for that referral relationship rather than assuming a serious eye issue is handled entirely in town.

National Sinus Institute's Taos clinic is a genuine local option, currently accepting new patients of all ages, from pediatric through adult, for conditions including sinus infections, allergies, sleep apnea, and tonsillitis.

Audiology and hearing aid services are the thinner category. Several hearing-aid-specific directories list few or no dedicated audiology clinics physically in Taos, with the nearest established options closer to Santa Fe or Los Alamos, roughly 60 or more miles away. If hearing care, hearing aids, or balance disorder treatment is a regular need, factor that drive into your planning, since it is one of the categories on this page where Taos genuinely does not have deep local capacity yet.
