What to expect

Scenic flights out of the Taos airport over the Rio Grande Gorge, the mesa, the Earthships, and the Sangre de Cristos, plus mountain flying instruction for licensed pilots. Routes get adjusted for weather, and they will tell you straight when the mountains are not flyable.

What to expect

Guided snowmobile tours out of Taos Ski Valley, roughly two hours on the machine with stops for photos at the overlooks. Pace is deliberately slow and the route runs alongside drop-offs, which is worth knowing if heights are an issue. Bring goggles.

What to expect

Trail rides, all-day UTV runs to old mines and high lakes, snowmobiles when there is snow, and a cowboy dinner with live music. Up on Bobcat Pass between Red River and Eagle Nest, about an hour from Taos. Guides know the country and the mining history behind it.

Rafting and the river

River outfitters are not listed on this page. Los Rios River Runners and Far Flung Adventures run out of Taos County, and several more operate downriver near Embudo in Rio Arriba County. All of it lives on Rafting the Rio Grande, including which stretch suits which group and how water level changes the trip.
